South and central Gran Canaria is on yellow alert for wind and waves from 15.00 today Friday, January 26 until at least midday on Sunday. The alert for wind and waves is also active for north Gran Canaria on Saturday.

The wind forecast is for gusts of wind up to 80kph in southeast Gran Canaria this evening and tomorrow. The waves could be 4-5 metres.

North Gran Canaria will be cloudy with showers over the weekend while the south will get a mix of cloud and sunshine.

The beginning of next week is likely to be dominated by a cold snap bringing clouds and rain to the eastern Canary Islands and Gran Canaria. It could even snow in the highlands!

We'll update the forecast for next week as soon as the forecast gets clearer.
