The cactus fig has about 95% water in its fibers. That is why many residents of the Cazadores quarter of the city of Telde, especially the elderly, proposed to plant this type of vegetation in the alleys that serve as fire exits. Because they know that it is virtually impossible for the fire to pass a compact barrier of tuneras.

A boat flying the British flag, Lazy Bones, carrying 600 kilos of cocaine destined for the Canary Islands, has been intercepted by police and is now in Puerto de la Luz, Las Palmas.
