Free And Cheap Things To Do At Anfi Beach

Anfi beach is a strange blend of cheap and expensive; The beach is free and the sun loungers and beds are reasonable (Most shops and services are priced for the resort’s timeshare guests (who have already proved that they don’t mind paying top dollar for things), but some are great value.

If you want to visit Anfi beach but don't want to spend money like a timeshare resort guest, here's how to do it.

Eat Pizza

The supermarket, the restaurants and the water sports are all priced high for the resorts timeshare guests, but the takeaway food spot at the west end of the sand is excellent value. Where else can you get a huge slice of (great) pizza, a drink and a portion of chips for 5.50? Compared to €2.25 for a coffee in the beachfront café, it's pretty good value.

The Spar supermarket at Anfi seems to have higher prices than other local supermarkets in south Gran Canaria, but opens all day long and is even air-conditioned.

Swim off the island

The posh Maroa Club de Mar on Anfi’s heart-shaped island has plenty of chill out sofas but no pool so it’s put in steps and a roped-off swimming area at the far side of the island. It’s just next to the ferry dock and is a great place for a refreshing swim if Anfi beach is crowded or the water is too warm for your taste.

Walk away

The coast pathway that links Anfi beach to Arguineguín is showing its age but is due a multi-million euro revamp. You can walk from Anfi beach all the way past Patalavaca and into Arguineguín town. Restaurant prices here are far more reasonable than at Anfi beach and you get a local atmosphere. For the ultimate in local flavour, walk past Las Marañuelas beach and into the fishing port, then eat at the Cofradia de Pescadores restaurant. It’s run by the fisherman’s guild so it gets the freshest fish in town.
