Meloneras resort is less than 20 years old but it's palm-fringed boulevard, seafront terraces and high-end shops make the smart bit of Maspalomas resort a must-visit spot.

Gran Canaria hotel firm Lopesan plans to build at least three new hotels in the Meloneras area of south Gran Canaria, including a 170 room luxury villa hotel and a 1000 room megaresort.

Meloneras beach at the far end of the Meloneras seafront boulevard is a small, golden beach with a strip of restaurants just by the sand.
