Blue Flag beaches have to have bathroom facilities and disabled access as well as environmental information, clean water, lifeguards and drinking water. Here's the Full List of criteria.

In 2018, 15 Gran Canaria beaches and two Gran Canaria marinas earned Blue Flag awards, more than in any of the other Canary Islands.  

Stunning Las Canteras beach is over 3 km long with plenty of restaurants and facilities all along the promenade. A perfect beach for everyone.  

This great beach has the golden sand and the sunshine but not the crowds. San Agustín is perfect for sunbathers and for older kids 

Vast Maspalomas has space for everyone from families at the west end to nudists in the centre 

Playa del Inglés is Gran Canaria's most popular resort beach but always has plenty of free sand 

Quiet Meloneras, at the west end of Meloneras resort and boulevard, is where peace lovers go to sunbathe in Maspalomas. 

It's not in the guidebooks, but east coast Hoya del Pozo beach has what it takes to be a Blue Flag beach. 

Where east coast locals go for sand and seafood: Melenara beach has volcanic sand, waves and the best local food in the area. 

Pretty Salinetas beach, just south of Melenara beach in east Gran Canaria, has a Blue Flag along with a pretty promenade and palms shading the sand. 

La Garita beach is quiet and has clear water and you almost always get the sand to yourself: It earned a Blue Flag in 2018. 

Like everything at Puerto de Mogán, the beach is gorgeous. 

Amadores beach has everything from beachfront restaurants to azure water. A perfect resort beach for families and, well, everyone. 

Sardina is famous amongst Gran Canaria divers but few know its lovely sandy beach.

El Puertillo: North Gran Canaria's little local beach with seafood restaurants and a long seaside promenade. 

The huge natural pools just next to El Puertillo beach have their own Blue Flag: Great place for swimming and snorkelling.

 East coast rising star Arinaga beach  caps off its growing popularity with Gran Canaria visitors with a Blue Flag award.

Popular with kitesurfers at its southern end, the north tip of east coast El Burrero beach is sandy and sheltered. 

Puerto de Mogán marina is famous for its beautiful canals and clear water full of fish. 

Private Pasito Blanco marina has a gorgeous swimming area and water clean enough to earn a Blue Flag. 

It even has its own sandy beach, one of the emptiest in south Gran Canaria.
