Las Canteras beach, with its 3.5km of golden sand sweeping down one side of the city, is the jewel of Las Palmas. However, it is just one of five beaches in the capital city. Here's everything you need to know about them all.
Drive into Las Palmas along the coast road from the airport and you can't miss La Laja beach and its mob of seagulls. While everybody sees it, only boogie boarders and locals appreciate it.
There's more to Arucas old town than the great big church. Walk up the narrow cobbled streets behind the cathedral for great old Canarian houses and local street life, then head down narrow Calle Gourié to the High Street (Calle León y Castillo).
