Gran Canaria Weather: Hot And Sunny This Week

05.09.2016: The fierce heatwave scorching south and western Spain this week won't affect the Canary Islands. Instead, Gran Canaria gets standard September weather; hot sun and a few gusts of wind.

29.08.2016: South Gran Canaria is currently on Orange alert (until 19.00) for high temperatures with the rest of the island and the Canarian archipelago on yellow alert. The Canarian Government has also announced an alert for maximum temperatures.

24.08.2016: The last week of August will be hot and sunny across the whole of Gran Canaria with no extreme weather or heat.

22.08.2016: Yesterday's rain was unexpected but we can't rule out more of it during the week. There will be plenty of sunshine too.

16.08.2016: Gran Canaria is now in the middle of a settled patch of weather that will last all week.

12.08.2016: After a week of exceptional heat things in Gran Canaria go back to normal this weekend. Hot and sunny, but not too hot.

08.08.2016 The scorching weather faded away on Sunday but will be back on Tuesday when a second blast of heat arrives from North Africa.

A vast blob of hot, dusty air from North Africa is heading towards the Canary Islands and arrives on Thursday. Temperatures will rise by as much as 9ºC and will peak at over 40ºC over the weekend.

Temperatures are set to soar this week in Gran Canaria with the south of the island back on yellow alert and the mercury expected to hit 36ºC.

22.07.2016 Gran Canaria cools down today and will be pleasant tomorrow before the heat returns on Sunday. It's too hot for walking!

12.07.2016: South Gran Canaria is on alert for strong wind and waves until the end of Wednesday. After that, the temperature starts to ratchet up.

Gran Canaria is on alert for temperatures over 34ºC until Sunday, and on fire alert.

19.06.2016: The Gran Canaria weather goes from hot to "bloody hell, it's hot", starting today.

It's June, summer has arrived and there's just no point publishing a Gran Canaria weather forecast every week.

31.05.2016 Summer has started and most of Gran Canaria should be under a blue dome this week.

27.05.2015 With no Trade Wind blowing from the north, expect cloudy afternoons and even a few drops of evening rain until the end of the weekend.

23.06.2016: We're getting to the time of year when weather forecasts in Gran Canaria get boring.

Gran Canaria Tip: What Are The Best Car Hire Companies?

This is one of the most common questions we get in our Facebook Group (with over 30,000 members) and fortunately, it is an easy one to answer. The Gran Canaria Info admin team and the fans in our Facebook group agree...

The best car hire companies in Gran Canaria are local ones with desk at the airport and honest pricing policies that don't have any hidden insurance or fuel deposit costs. They just rent you a good car at a good price with no fuss at all.

We recommend Mr Car Hire Gran Canaria (Nick); an idependent car rental professional who works with all the main local rental companies in Gran Canaria. This means that he can always find you a good deal.

Mr Car Hire also offers fully comprehensive insurance on all car rental, three-day bookings, and delively of your car right to your door anywhere in Gran Canaria.

We advise all Gran Canaria visitors to avoid booking the cheapest possible car on generic car rental websites or via their flight company because you often end up paying large deposits, extra fuel and insurance costs and all kinds of other costs once you arrive to pick up your car at the airport.
